ACTIVITIES ORGANISED IN 2020
Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, the PVI was not able to organise any physical activities. We have organised in place a number of online activities.
- Virtual (online) pubquiz
PVI organizes a virtual/online Pub quiz!
With the current circumstances the PVI has not been able to organize activities and we expect that any future activities will have to take place in different forms to comply with the governmental regulations. Seen that you still have paid your monthly contributions we have decided to take this into account with organizing our activities, to offer them at a cheaper price or even for free, which was done with the Online Pubquiz we organized.
On Donderdag 9 juli 2020 the PVI organized an adapted activity, namely an online/virtual Pubquiz.
Participants received a snack/drink box so that these could be enjoyed during the Pubquiz. With thanks tot he Zuivelhoeve in Almelo for arranging the boxes and for them to be delivered in time.
Armed with a PC or laptop, the 20 participants, from different “home” locations, were ready to answer a number of questions with help of a quizmaster (through a Youtube livestream). There were different rounds with multiple choice questions, open questions and also some rounds had audio and video fragments.
The answers tot he questions could be filled in in a digital form accessible via phone/ipad or pc. The answers were sent to the quizmaster after the rounds to check the answers and to determine a winner.
The winner received a prize in the form of a Bol.com voucher of 25 euro’sIt was a fun evening and who knows: we may repeat this activity again some time.
- Sinterklaas (online)
Due to Covid-19 and personal circumstances Sinterklaas was not able to visit ITC in person. However two Pieten sent the children (37 in total) a nice video message through e-mail. There also was a little contest. The children were asked to design a face mask for Sinterklaas. Unfortunately none of the children sent in a contribution.
Sinterklaas and Pieten ordered books (presents) at the local bookstore, Boekhandel Broekhuis. The titles were:
Sinterklaas Nijntje omdraaiboek - Dick Bruna 0-2 years
Sinterklaas – Mark Janssen 3-5 years
Super Sint - Maranke Rinck 6-7 years
Zoete zusjes vieren Sinterklaas - Hanneke de Zoete 6-7 years
Ellen Hemmink wrote a poem. This poem was added to the books.
We as PVI would like to thank all the people who made a contribution to this alternative, digital Sinterklaasfeest.
- Virtual Christmas Market
2021 Virtual Christmas gathering
Due to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic the PVI jointly organized a virtual Christmas gathering for staff, former staff, students and family and friend. On Tuesday December 22nd late in the afternoon volunteers started moderating some 9 channels in a MS Teams environment.
Some channels had prepared quite well like the music channel which featured a video of ITC staff and children playing and singing music. The video of some 20 minutes showed great performances Staff members, students and children. The video was appreciated by many who tuned in to the channel.
Another channel with great interest was the films channel in which Robin and guests discussed their favorite films and series on TV, Cinema and obviously Netflix and other streaming services. Under COVID-19 streaming services obviously gained a lot of interest and so did their films and series.
While crafting, Esther was hosting a paper crafting channel. She made different crafts with both Origami and Paper quilling live so people could watch her. Esther chatted with the guests while crafting, except when she had to take a short break. Can you imagine, Esther taking a break and stop talking 😉?
In addition there were channels where ITC staff could sing-a-long with karaoke versions of Mariah Carey, Wham and Michael Buble and more traditional songs like White Christmas and Rudolph, you know the one with the red nose which is discriminated, discuss gardening, talk about and collect their favorite Christmas recipes, etc.
All in all, the organisers were pleased with the turnout of about 40 participants in the week just before that strange Christmas in which meeting with your family was not allowed. We have made a list of things to improve but we certainly hope that we will never have to implement them.
