In this contribution, professor Batelaan will present Flinders University and the hydro(geo)logical research of the National Centre for Groundwater Research and Training (NCGRT) shortly. The antique text fragment on ‘Hedgehogs and foxes’ is then used to introduce a concept for our hydro(geo)logical science and its researchers via acquainting various people and their philosophical, literary, historical and recent scientific works. The focus along this journey will be on conceptual models, hypothesis testing, and sustainability of (ground)water systems.
