The cultural diversity of ITC, of both students and lecturers is amazing. this makes it possible to experience different cultural practices from all parts of the world.
My name is Raymond and I am from Lungni, a small town in the northern region of Ghana. I am studying the Master’s in Geo-information Science and Earth Observation, specializing in Natural Resources Management.
I have a background in Geography and Resources Development as my bachelor's degree, from the University of Ghana, Legon. Prior to applying to ITC, I was working at the Centre for Climate Change and Sustainability Studies (C3ss) as a Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing analyst.
I am interested in Earth Observation for Forest Management, while exploring the possibilities during my application I came across ITC, which holds the record of being among the top ten institutions in the world when it comes to Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation. ITC also offers partial scholarships, which makes it easier for students from developing countries, such as Ghana, to find their way to study in the Netherlands.
The cultural diversity of ITC, University of Twente, of both students and lecturers is amazing which makes it possible to experience different cultural practices from all parts of the world. Aside the cultural diversities, the University being one of the best technical Universities in the Netherlands offers qualitative education to their students. The Dutch are welcoming and willing to help at any point in time. Cycling in the Netherlands is fun for me, it reminds me of my childhood days where I used to cycle to the farm every weekend.
My future plan is to own a geospatial consulting company
The future already looks exciting and promising with the quality education I am receiving here in ITC. My future plan is to own a geospatial consulting company, which will give vital and valid geospatial advise to stakeholders in the field of natural resources management across the globe, but prior to this I would love to work with non-governmental organizations or the United Nations to impact lives.
With thanks
I would like to express my profound gratitude to the ITC Excellence Scholarship and the Nevalak Foundation for sponsoring my master’s degree here in the Netherlands.
