Russel E. Train Fellowships support individuals pursuing a Master's or Doctoral degree in conservation and related fields. Each year, WWF supports committed conservation leaders and scientists from target countries to receive financial support for their studies and research.
Description
The Russel E. Train Fellowships - Food is Local are meant for Master degree studies in the field of food systems. It is meant for the current and next generation of researchers and practitioners to pursue graduate level studies (master's and PhDs) geared towards research that cultivates a better understanding of the place-based nature of food system transformation.

Value and purpose of grant
Applicants may apply for up to two years of funding and request up to USD 30,000 per year. The amount of funding will vary. To development evidence-based, innovative, and interdisciplinary research on food system transformation at the national level.

Application requirements
Requirements for candidates:
- You must be a citizen and legal permanent resident of one of the eligible countries.
- You must have at least two years of conservation-related work or research experience.
- You must have a demonstrated commitment to working in conservation in an eligible country.
- You must be enrolled in, admitted to, or have applied to a master's or PhD programme at the University of Twente among which the Master programme in Geo-information Science and Earth Observation with specialisation in Natural Resources Management.
- You must plan to begin your studies no later than January 2026.
- You must contact EFN if you are a WWF employee, consultant, or previous EFN grant recipient to determine eligibility.
- You must submit all required documents by the application deadline of 18 December 2023..
