In 1989 Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chaki Sirindhorn of Thailand paid a three-day visit to the ITC. SHe had become acquainted with the ITC four years earlier when cremonially opening the exhibition "an innovation in aerial phtography for developmental planning" in Bankok.
In Enschede she followed a special Tailor-made study programme. The programme included 8 modules in subjects like land ise and land conservation, data-collection, methods for data integration, information extraction and GIS. The knowledge gained during this study tour and during the working visit to the ITC has stimulated the development and the use of remote sensing in Thailand.
