The Ethiopian Ambassador, His Excellency, Dr. Kassu Yilala, was a distinguished visitor to the Faculty ITC of the University of Twente on 27 November 2012. Hosted by the Directorate, the visit was a rare opportunity for ITC staff and students to present ITC’s education, research and capacity development activities in Ethiopia.
Following an official welcome by the ITC directorate, the Ambassador had lunch with the Ethiopian students presently studying at ITC. Mr Tagel Gidey, PhD student, presented his research in a presentation entitled: Food security policy: does it work? does it help? followed by a presentation and demonstration by Dr Ben Maathuis entitled GEONETCast for Early Warning and Food Security – Ethiopia.
