The Faculty ITC of the University of Twente conveys its sincerest congratulations to the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS) on the occasion of its fiftieth anniversary. In these 50 years, hundreds of students have traveled between India and Enschede to graduate as a Master of Science.
We like to express similar congratulations to the Government of India, in particular the Indian Space Research Organization for having realized the ideas and vision of the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru expressed during his visit to ITC in 1957. He saw a way to provide to people "with a totally different background, race, color and religion, to learn how to get along with each other, to collaborate and to live with each other", that he proclaimed that such an institute should also be established in India to cater for the needs of Asia.
KNOWLEDGE ENHANCEMENT
We thank IIRS for providing the opportunity to participants from Asia to enhance their knowledge and skills in the development and application of earth observation technologies for the benefit of society as a whole.
We are proud that ITC has stood at the cradle of IIRS and we are happy to participate in the joint educational program in geo-information science. We look forward to continue this collaboration with IIRS and the Indian Space Research Organization. We wish IIRS a very happy celebration and many more years of fruitful cooperation.
