ILWIS 386 Getting Started

To be able to operate the toolbox plug-in resources, first the IWLIS software needs to be installed. The latest official version of ILWIS (currently version 3.8.6) is freely available at https://52north.org. However, the versions found in the link provided below are updated more frequently, while 52north.org hosts the official releases.

The most recent unofficial version of ILWIS 3.8.6 can be downloaded from the following download link, which includes the newest functionality and the latest bug fixes:

When navigating to this link, a list of files appears. The files correspond to several ILWIS versions. The user is advised to select the most recent release. This is indicated by the date, used as suffix, e.g. ILWIS386_”date”.zip. The corresponding *.txt file provides additional information on the changes and bug fixes implemented in this release.

These resources should provide the pre-ILWIS 3.8 or new user with sufficient background to get familiar with the generic GIS and RS functionality offered by ILWIS 3.8.6 (or higher)

It should be noted that the menu has changed over time, but the functionality has not changed. In recent versions more functionality has been added!
