At the Faculty ITC - University of Twente, a low cost EUMETCast - GEONETCast reception facility has been established and is currently receiving the EUMETCast Africa and Europe Services, see also the figure below.
The reception room is shown in the picture below and is consisting of low-cost off-the-shelf equipment: 3 desktops (64 bit OS) connected to a Novra S300E BVD-S2 for the Ku Basic and High Volume Service and a TBS 5927 USB DVB-S2 Tuner for the Africa Service for data reception. Furthermore a desktop is used for automatic data management, handling the incoming data stream and transferring the data to a file server for use by staff and students. Another desktop is running applications developed utilizing some of the data delivered through EUMETCast.
