PGM-ITC is hosting Guilherme Braghirolli, currently a PhD candidate from the Postgraduate Program in Territorial Planning and Socio-environmental Development (PPGPLAN) at the State University of Santa Catarina (UDESC) as visiting scientist. Guilherme is at ITC from September 2024 to March 2025.
Prof. Oliveira also stresses that this exchange at the University of Twente opened doors to new scientific and academic connections with researchers from different countries, strengthening international collaboration networks. Working with different cultures also provided Guilherme with a rich experience of cultural immersion, broadening his worldview and positively impacting his personal and professional development.
This experience also strengthened the institutional ties between the Geoprocessing Laboratory (GeoLab) of UDESC and the researchers of ITC, stimulating future collaborations and consolidating international partnerships, under the PLUS Hub Brazil umbrella, at PGM. Prof. Oliveira, who also coordinates the GeoLab, highlights that the academic trajectory of student Guilherme Braghirolli strengthens the positive impact of exchange activities, which contribute significantly to stimulating creativity, scientific curiosity and promoting the sharing of advanced knowledge.
Finally, the international experience allowed Guilherme to develop interpersonal skills essential in a globalized world, such as intercultural communication and teamwork with people from different backgrounds. These learnings are a lasting legacy of this experience, which represents not only an academic milestone, but also personal growth.
