In February 2023, a joint team from ITC and the Land Governance Institute (IGT) had an exploratory mission to Brasília, Brazil , where they met with key stakeholders of the land sector in the country.
A direct follow-up from this mission came in the form of a three-day workshop conducted by André Mano, Prof. Bastiaan Reydon, Gabriel Pansani and Victor Bukhvar on the Land Administration Domain Model (LADM). LADM is a framework for modelling land administration systems using a standardized, neutral language, thus facilitating the cooperation and communication between institutions with shared, sometimes even conflicting, responsibilities.
The workshop ran for 3 days, in June 2023 in Brasilia, aimed at representatives from the Receita Federal (Tax Administration), INCRA (Rural Cadaster) and SEPRO (IT solution providers for the federal government). The workshop was a great success and is based on a proposal that our team has for improving land administration in Brazil - this proposal will come out in the form of a peer-reviewed paper, so stay tuned!
