One of the main focus areas of the Centre for Disaster Resilience is to strengthen networks in this field. We work with a range of national and international partners:
4TU Resilience: DeSIRE (Designing Systems for Informed Resilience Engineering) is an extensive interdisciplinary research and capacity building programme. The DeSIRE-programme builds the capacity for the 4TU Centre for Resilience Engineering and funds its activities in the first five years. The CDR will complement the 4TU-Resilience with expertise on disaster resilience focused on Global South
Risk & Resilience initiative University of Twente, Society for Risk Management, & PRIMO
Collaboration program with strategic partners KNMI and the Red Cross Climate Center on capacity building in developing countries; Early Warning Centre; Attribution of extreme events to climate change; Multi-Hazard and Risk changes through time. Also an intensive collaboration is foreseen with 510.org in the application of geospatial technologies for impact-based forecasting and damage assessment.
National partners for example WUR, Utrecht University, TU Delft, VU, Deltares, Nelen&Schuurmans, Rekenkamer, PBL, CommonLands, Prinses Margriet Fund.
International partners, such as UNOSAT, AIT, GRAF, UNDRR, World Bank, UNDP, UN Habitat, UNEP, UN-ESCAP, STAG, ASTAAG, Climate & Development Knowledge Network, Adaptation Research Alliance, universities and research institutes (also ECIU), and private sector partners.
Active participation in international networks, such as IRDR, NASA SERVIR, GEOS, Anticipation Hub, UN-Habitat, ICLEI, CityNet, PEDRR, Global Centre on Adaptation, ISOP Risk & Resilience, EMI. Prioritization of the networks in which we would like to make a long term contribution.
