It is our pleasure to invite you for an interactive online workshop Building disaster resilient societies: Development of a disaster reconstruction support framework! The workshop will take place on Thursday the 23rd of May from 10.00-12.30 (CET). The workshop is hosted by the University of Twente (UT) and the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU) which have engaged in related research for the last decades.
This workshop will bring together experts field to discuss and evaluate the effectiveness of assistance provided after floods, earthquakes and hurricanes. Join the insightful discussion and share your valuable insights on how we can better prepare and respond to natural hazards. Don't miss out on this learning opportunity for academics and practitioners.
This workshop will focus specifically on decision-making in disaster resilience of the built environment for housing and settlements. The workshop will bring together experts working in different disciplines related to DRR to discuss the effectiveness of assistance mechanisms. In the workshop, we will: 1) jointly discuss relationships between factors contributing to decision-making in disaster resilience of the built environment (specifically housing and settlements) in the contexts of flooding, earthquakes and hurricanes 2) discuss and assess the effectiveness of recovery and resilience assistance mechanisms.
This workshop is supported by a collaboration grant from the University of Twente and Vrije University Amsterdam to bring together technical and social sciences for a more holistic and interdisciplinary understanding. Through this grant, we are hosting a series of expert workshops. This is our final event where we also share our preliminary findings with you for further reflection. https://vu-ut.nl/en/research-and-impact/responsible-societies/researchprojects-2023/
