On 25 March, staff and students of the University of Twente will participate in a protest against the Dutch government's planned budget cuts to higher education and science, which amount to approximately 1.3 billion euros. This action is part of a nationwide relay strike, with universities across the Netherlands taking turns to make their voices heard and advocate against these cuts.

Since 2021, we have been operating 24/7, empowering staff and students to conduct high-quality research, tackle large-scale geospatial challenges, and advance big geospatial data processing. And we stand in solidarity with them in their rightful protest.

To support the strike, our platform will be unavailable on 25 March from 8:30 to 17:30. If you are working or studying at University Twente, we encourage you to check the programme of the protest action and consider joining. Every euro invested in science and education is a step toward a future-proof, modern society and a liveable environment. This is what we believe in while performing your computations, we hope decision-makers will recognize this as well.
